Log In to Your Google Apps Account

Double-click the shortcut on your desktop:    

  • If you see the following "Welcome" page, enter your user name and password which has been provided to you, and then click Sign In.




  • Otherwise your Google Email Inbox appears. For example:





Important: Although your email messages many have been migrated from your previous set-up, some data may not have migrated. You can recreate this data in Google Apps.

Use Google Mail

To read a message, click it to open it:





To reply to or forward a message, open it, and then click Reply to Reply to All or Forward at the bottom of the message card:


To send a message, click Compose Mail:




Archive and Delete – what's the difference?

  • Use Archive to save email in the archive, which you can access by clicking on your All Mail link.

  • Use Delete to send email to the Bin, which is automatically emptied regularly.

I want to keep certain emails in a different folder.

  • Use the Labels button to create a new label and / or label each email with a label

  • Archive the email

  • When you want to find emails with a given label, click the label's link name on the left side of the screen

How do I know when I have new mail?

  • If you are logged in, you'll see mail arrive on screen.

  • If not, the mail icon in the Windows® taskbar tray (taskbar status area) will show an "M", and a mail pop-up will temporarily appear:

Access Your Google Calendar

To access your calender, click the Calendar link at the top of your Mail window:




Your calendar appears. For example:




Important: Although your calender events were migrated, you might need to set the time zone for your location.

Use Your Calendar

To change your calendar view, click the tabs in the upper-right corner of the view:




To view or edit details about an event, click its name:



To create an event, click Create Event:


 

I want a text message sent to my mobile to remind me:

  • Set up SMS in Settings / Calendar Settings / Mobile Setup

  • Create a Calendar entry, and SMS will be automatically added as a reminder option. Note that if you have existing entries, you will have to edit these and add the SMS reminder option.

Create a Task List

Use the Tasks gadget to keep your "to do" list handy. To open the gadget, just click the Tasks in the left pane of your Mail or Calendar window:




Start typing in the Tasks window to create your list. Or drag email messages to the list for follow-up. 

On the Actions menu, you'll find options to indent or move items, enter details such as a due date, print your list, and more. Use the Switch List menu to rename the list and create more lists. To work in a bigger window, click the pop-out arrow in the upper right corner.

How do I make Google Apps my default email client?

  • MS Explorer

    • Tools > Internet Options > Programs > E-mail = Google Mail: A Google approach to email

  • Mozilla Firefox

    • Tools > Options > Applications > Content Type: Mailto = Use Google Apps (Default)

  • Google Chrome

    • Doesn't need any set up done, as installation of Google Apps Desktop Features takes care of things.
